Six Simple Steps To Weight Loss

Picture

I am so glad you made the choice to lose weight. Your weight loss journey does not have to be a struggle and together we can achieve your ideal goal. Here are a few simple steps to get started.

Eat six small meals a day
This is a key step to weight loss. Most people believe that eating less is better and this is not true. The body requires food for energy and depriving the body of food reduces your energy level. So, you might be asking yourself how are you supposed to eat six meals a day. The basic design for scheduling your meals should follow this routine: breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and snack.

Jump start your metabolism
The goal is to get your metabolism up and running. When you go to sleep at night so does your metabolism. Therefore, it is necessary to wake your metabolism up by eating first thing in the morning. If you have a hard time eating breakfast as your first meal then start with a snack..ie..yougurt.

Eat before 9 am
Set a goal to eat your first meal before 9 am. This will allow you to get in the six meals.

Foods to eat and food to avoid
This part is easy, right? We hear all the time don't eat fried foods and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. What can I tell you that is different? Not much. Fried foods, processed foods (pre-packaged snack or meals), alcohol /beer, and such should be avoided. Eat plenty of vegetable and fresh fruits. You can eat raw vegetables as a snack between meals.

Exercise
Set a goal to exercise 5 - 7 days a week. Haven't exercised on a long time? Start with walking for 5 - 10 minutes around your neighborhood. The point is to get moving. Every week you should increase until you are exercising at least 30 minutes each time.

Consider this a lifestyle change
This is a critical step. You must change your mindset! Obtaining and maintaining your weight loss goal requires a mindset change. You cannot approach this with the thinking that 'Oh, this won't work", 'This is a passing fad', or 'How is this different that everything else I tried?' This is different because you made the choice and commitment to change your life. I believe in you and your goals and together we can achieve them. Let's make realistic goals that can be obtained. Embrace this journey as a lifestyle change and a commitment to great health!
